How does the loan work?
The securities loan is established with Bankinter, so Bankinter would always be responsible for that loan.
When Bankinter lends the securities, it may only carry out such operations with lenders that are previously authorised by Bankinter under a strict risk policy. Therefore, loan operations will be carried out only with large international financial institutions, many of which are classified within the group known as “Too big to fail”, and in addition they will always be made using a system of constituting guarantees to hedge the loan.
The securities are identified individually and you can identify them at any time in your Bankinter Broker private area.
You can consult our policy on best execution of orders here.
Does the loan affect my trading?
Your trades will not be affected in any case.
If you want to sell your securities, you can do so whenever you want. Bankinter will take care of cancelling any loans provided, but this will not affect your trades.
Neither will it affect your collection of dividends. If the securities are not on loan at the time of dividend collection, nothing changes. And if they are on loan, since you do not have financial rights, you will receive an amount in your current account equal to what would correspond to you as compensation, with the same tax characteristics as if you received dividends from your securities (capital gains subject to tax withholding).
Can I unsubscribe?
If you no longer want to have the Broker Zero Service in your securities accounts, you can request to unsubscribe at any time in your Broker private area.
If there are no open loans, cancellation of the service will be immediate. If a loan exists, a cancellation request will be launched and Bankinter will cancel the loan in order to close the service.
You can make an unsubscribe request from the Broker Zero Service for any of the holders of the securities account. This will cause the service to be removed from all the securities accounts in which that person appears as the holder (whether sole or joint holder). You should be aware that once you request to unsubscribe, you will not be able to subscribe again for the Broker Zero Service for at least the next 3 months.
